BY BOAT, BY BIKE , BY BOOT – NINE DAYS IN THE HEART OF UGANDA

This is not a trip you watch unfold from a vehicle. Glide through papyrus channels, pedal along mountain lake shores, ride boda-bodas through local villages, and trek on foot through one of Africa’s oldest forests. This is Uganda for those who want to feel every step of it.

DAY 01:

DAY OF ARRIVAL IN ENTEBBE (UGANDA) - ENTEBBE: On arrival at the Entebbe International Airport - our team will meet you at the entrance of the Airport Building and assist with immigration and health formalities. We will then help with luggage collection and customs clearance before introducing you to your Africa Beyond Borders representative, who will be waiting for you at the Airport Terminal Exit. Your Africa Beyond Borders representative will transfer you in a private Africa Beyond Borders vehicle to the Karibu Guesthouse Entebbe, your home for the next two nights on a Half Board Basis. Relax, unwind, and prepare for the adventure ahead.

DAY 02:

MABAMBA SWAMP & ENTEBBE: Start the day early with a boat safari on the Mabamba Swamp, one of the world’s top destinations to spot the elusive Shoebill. Glide silently through tranquil channels, observing an incredible diversity of wetland birds, including Lesser Jacana, lapwings, water weavers, and the striking Red-chested Sunbird. With luck, you may also encounter Orange Weaver, Great Blue Turaco, Ross’s Turaco, Eastern Plantain-eater, and Double-toothed Barbet.

Afternoon: After lunch (meal on own account) at the Karibu Guesthouse, visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens. Stroll among tropical flora and encounter Great Blue Turacos, hornbills, marabou storks, vervet monkeys, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. The gardens gently descend to the shores of Lake Victoria, once the backdrop for early Tarzan films.

Evening: Transfer to the Entebbe Jetty for a Sundowner / Equator Cruise on Lake Victoria, complete with cheese and wine, as the sun sets over Africa’s largest lake. Return to the Karibu Guesthouse by dinner-time.
